The National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Cluster (NAMIC) is a pan-national initiative led by the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), supported by the National Research Foundation under the Prime Minister’s Office and the Ministry of Trade and Industry, together with Enterprise Singapore and the Singapore Economic Development Board. NAMIC aims to increase Singapore’s adoption of hybrid and additive manufacturing technologies in the digital era to enhance its competitiveness in the rapidly evolving industrial landscape. NAMIC focuses on promising AM technologies and companies, as well as accelerating translational R&D from public institutions with a focus on industrialization and commercial applications. NAMIC assists companies seeking capital injection either through project joint-funding or its investor networks.
NAMIC also partners with companies to co-create processes, products and solutions, leveraging on its flagship events to create a vibrant AM ecosystem. NAMIC focuses on industries where Singapore possesses deep capabilities and competitive advantage with a view to the future. These include :- Aviation, Space, Healthcare, Clean Tech, Marine Offshore, Land Transport, Maritime, Precision Engineering, Electronics, Built Environment and Design. NAMIC also supports promising global AM start-ups, and has created a number of spin-off companies as part of its enterprise development efforts. Together with the economic agencies, NAMIC has spear-headed AM industrialization efforts through its wide-ranging industry engagements leading to strategic partnerships and projects, growing the AM business community significantly and drawing entrepreneurs to Singapore. Since its inception in October 2015, NAMIC has raised more than $50 million in private-public funding to support over 200 initiatives covering platform solutions, product development, SkillsFuture initiatives, standards development and certification.
