Founded in 1984, its predecessor, Wemark Engineering & Construction, a sole proprietorship, started off as a small engineering workshop serving the marine sector. As Singapore moved into the electronics sector in the early 1990s, the company also diversified into that industry. In 1996, as the business grew, a private limited company, Wemark Techno Engineering Pte Ltd, was incorporated.
